Thoughts on a 'refurbished' detector ?

Tesoro vaquero....

as long as it`s a brand name stay away form the unknown brands !

You can across some great used detectors still in th box at your $500 mark that are worth at least $350-500 more.

I have seen many excited people get great detectors and for either health reasons or a gift they did not want sell it way below market value on forums , eBay or Craigslist .

I suggest finding a local MD club and see if you can try some detectors out.

Asking which is the best one is like asking a parent who has the prettiest child.

People love their detectors for many reasons some of them are purely sentimental .

If you can get a Garrett AT Pro for $500, it's probably the best deal for an all-around detector in that price range.

Does anyone sell JUST the Garrett AT Pro detector ? I have all the stuff they like to "bundle" it with .

A good deal on a used at pro is about $300. There's a at pro on craigs in my area for $380 and it's been listed for a couple of weeks so I'll bet he'd move on the price. Also, there's a at gold on craigs for $300 asking price.
Since the release of the at max, the other two are bargains on the used market.

Check with some of our sponsors here on Tnet. They might have a demo or slightly used one.

And in my OPINION a far better, more versitile machine than the AT Pro, it's just not waterproof.

I have a brand new in the box Teknetics Omega 8500 that I will let go for $285 with free shipping in the lower 48.
The 8500 is a great detector.

Forgot to mention, it will be used sometimes in & around water

Wow thats a good price

It's an awesome price for a lightweight, well balanced coin and relic detector that's NIB.

If you need waterproof, the AT Pro is about your only option in that price range.

Awesome price and a great machine th only thing the AT Pro can do the xterm 705 can’t is submerg in water up to 10 feet for shallow water detecting.

RTR - another thing to consider is after sale repairs, this generally is taken care of by purchasing well known brands though some are better than others. White's and other brands have excellent customer service repair centers with very reasonable honest charges...............63bkpkr
