Yes the 950 is my go to coil for saltwater beaches. The concentric coils will false less than the DD coils. The 12 inch is good also but is heavy after 3-4 hours.

What causes falsing in a DD as opposed to a concentric? Sounds like either a bad coil or electrical interference in your particular location.

6x10 DD coil for any mineralized situation for prospecting in the US and for salt water beaches. The MXT is an excellent beach detector with salt switch turned on. It will adjust well between dry sand, wet sand, and water in relic mode. I used mine last year in Florida and Alabama on Florida east coast beaches and Gulf beaches around Pensacola, FL and Gulf Shores, AL.

The 12inch coil reads too much underground and confuses the machine making it hard to pinpoint targets and lock onto them. The 12inch is great for beaches but nothing else as usually there is too much trash in parks or homesites. The 9.5 is the best coil for the machine and can be used anywhere with ease. All I use is the 9.5 on mine

For what it is worth I use nothing smaller than 12"x15" coil when I beach hunt.... I use the WOT on one excal and the SEF 12x15" Butterfly on my the other Excal, on my Sov GT I use either a WOT or SEF 15"18" Butterfly coil...... Pinpointing never been an issue, I hunt with harness so I can let go of the detector while in the water and to help support it, all I do is guid the detector, harness supports the weight...

I hunt in the water and on the beach, I usually hunt at least 4-6 hours and many times 10-12 hours, I am 64 and weight never been an issue using this setup...
