Greetings All:

Can some folks recommend beaches to MD for Spanish colonial (wreck) coins?

And, I have received differing opinions as to whether one can search in surf opposite salvor's claims. One said that salvage rights extend to water's edge and that people get very upset if anyone MD's in the surf. Another, based upon personal experience he claims, says that salvors dont' make an issue of it unless you are actually diving/snorkling. Opinions?

Thanks.

It's not a matter of whether the salvors mind if you detect in the surf or not, it is a law enforcement issue.

The stretch of beach between Sea Grape and Turtle trail beach accesses (south of Hwy 510 on A1A) is a good place to start.

There is still too much sand on the beach (and in the surf) to find anything old right now. Once the beaches erode and the black sand starts showing up, which may take another hurricane, then you have a better chance of finding the old stuff.

I vote for a few bad Noreasterns rather then the hurricane, unless its a wimpy Catagory 1.
