Oldest 1878 IHC.
Neatest 1909S Lincoln about 2 years ago

This year I have found a 1909 S, 1909 vdb (VG) and a 1910S The 1909S is rarest and could only be made out under a microscope very dinged up/abused so I would have to say the best was the 1910S readable but very worn. (this week) So far this year IH's have eluded me. Very upsetting with the volume I have gone through ($2200) a friend got one in change and he rubbed it in my face knowing that I search a lot.

Best - 1924-D (VG condition)

Oldest - 1898 Indian

Oddest - Toss-up (some foreign, a penny-sized mint insert coin, half of a magician's penny, holed pennies, etc.)

Hey everybody, whats the best thing you have ever found in a Penny box??? What is the oldest???? What about the oddest????
Im up to 65,000 pennys now, and going strong.......Thanks everyone....Tom

I search primarily bags, so I find quite a few foreign coins mixed in that would be pulled out prior to rolling them and putting them into boxes.

I am up to just over 628,000 pennies this year. There is outside chance I might reach 1,000,000 by the end of the year.

Oldest:
1883 IH (but my last IH was in May 337,000 pennies ago, I figure I am due for one soon)

Best:
1914-S also had a Red/Red Brown 1909 VDB in AU condition.

Oddest:
I always find odd stuff due searching bags, most if not all of it would be removed before being rolled. Numerous flattened pennies, foreign coins, other denominations, washers, slugs, wire coils, key chain rings, jewelry, pennies with holes in them (one had two footprints cut into it), half pennies (or to be more specific pennies missing half the metal), etc.

my oldest is a 1884 F IHP

i have also found horribly corroded pennies, smashed pennies, and one that looked like it had a bite taken out of it. oh and two pennies super glued together.

weird..

I found a 1880 Great Britian large cent about 10 days ago but of course it was in with halves not a penny box. HH Mark

65,000 Wheats?????

No not wheats, just pennys...Have about 75 wheats out of the lot..I only can get boxes, wish I could get bags...Maybe I will get another account where they have a machine.......

1909-s VDB...........WOW....in ANY condition that is incredible.....Some of you guys really have good luck......Thanks everyone for the great replys..........I STILL WANT AN INDIAN............

The oldest I have found in a roll is a 1895 IH. On day I found two IH's under the coin counter at my bank though, one was an 1864 IH.

The rarest by mintage was a 1932 Wheat (9 million minted).

Good luck, remember it's not only luck, but location and volume!

i've found a few indians, nothing special. i also found a mint set medal, that was kinda cool.

While I didn't find these in rolls, in the last 2 weeks I've gotten 4, 1943 steel cents. All in change from different locations.
