Best way to clean a very small gold pendant?

I just found this gold heart shaped pendant with porcelain (i think it's porcelain) inset and it is kind of dirty. What would be the best way to clean it up?
It measures a half inch long is all.

You should be able to give it a rinse with soap and water and not harm it. If it is solid gold, the discoloration should come off. If it remains looking dirty or rusty then you know it is plated gold. In either case, it is a nice looking pendent. Congrats.
