Went back to my new school permission this morning intending to just hunt for 2-3 hours when I was supposed to have an appointment. 30 minutes into the swing, I got a call and they cancelled for today.
Does it get any better than that??
I worked the old baseball field that hadn’t been used in at least 10 years or more. The outfield had gone to field, and fortunately the grass was all laying down, but it created a mat about 5-6” deep to detect over before reaching dirt. I cranked the Equinox up to the max and spent two hours hunting, and came away with about 30 coins, including 6 Wheaties...I was pumped!! This machine performed flawlessly, and I was digging targets that were in the dirt 6” under a 5-6” grass mat over them. That 6” coil is deadly, but you have to really slow it down to hit the targets. This field has very little iron, so I could run in full metal mode without the annoying grunts like around the buildings. Sensitivity was at max. Even though I had a nice pile of coins, I by no means scratched the surface for targets. As I was walking back to the truck the machine was chattering good signals all the way, but I needed a break, a cigar and a coffee. The balance of the coins came from some of the grassy areas around the old school building.
With those Wheaties, I think there’s some hope of finding some silver there. Time will tell.
Thanks for looking!

What would an old Catholic school be without finding some medallions?
