Hi All,

I have a great area that has rings to be found; today while detecting in a sports field, I found a nice 14K mans ring with 3 diamonds! I was using my XLT. I want to try my X-70 and would like your opinion on which coil and pattern would be best. I've only had my X-70 about a month so still green to how it works. I have the stock coil, 5x10 and 10.5" 7.5KHz...so have choices. This field will certainly give up more rings and to sweeten the pot...trash is minimal! The field dates back to the late 40s.

Thanks in advance for your help/advice.

Thats a nice find AA

I would stick with the big coil if trash is a minimum, and use the number 1 program as it has less things nothed out. Then dig those low signals and you might even want to take some rings if available and run a few "air tests" on them to see what numbers they hit on and then DIG DIG DIG!

The 10.5 DD is going to be the deepest finding coil. If you don't think that the rings your looking for are really deep, try the 5 X 10. The 18.75 kHz is really sensitive to gold and will find small pieces of jewelry such as earings. It will still give you great depth. If there is little trash, I would hunt in all metal mode and be sure you carefully ground balance. Good luck with future finds. Be sure to dig the signals that come in around 12 on up.

Dig all pulltab and nickel signals.
I found my first gold ring within 3weeks of detecting
