Found on a house site in Crawford county Ga. Took a pocketfull of finds and put them in a dish on the porch. A little while later my nephew came in and asked what is this thing with a face on it? Well i thought when I found it that it was a coin that had been shot with a 22. I had not cleaned it yet. Dang its in purty good shape. Anyone seen one before? I'm thinkig maybe from 1910 Cotton States Exposition? Or a Fair?

Awesome find! I want one. Those coins pop up here once in a while. I think they are so cool. They bring some fair prices on Ebay too.
Congrats,

Awesome! First one I've seen!

Great find. These suckers are hard to find, found one last year after 18 years of detecting. Congratulations.

Very unusual find. It's a beauty! :icon_thumleft:

Thats new to me. Was it a pin of some type? Am I seeing solder and a small hole on the back side.

Its a barber pop out dime coin... great artist who ever did it :-)

Awesome! On my bucket list!

Nope, but I do have a Morgan Dollar like it, but not found with a detector. Always loved these pop out coins.

repousse punch coins were made by putting the coin between a set of dies. I assume that they seemed to be most popular in the 1910's because practically every one I've ever seen has been a Barber coin dated from the 1910's. However, dies can still be purchased today if anyone has an interest to produce punched coins.

These are still being manufactured, I think. There is a youtube video on them that someone forwarded to me once. I don't remember the details, but it might be worth checking out.
