We checked out three fields today to look where the farmer did a deep plough. First site was a complete blank, second field is not even a site, more along the trackway to a large roman farm. Also a blank. Next was a low priority site we never came up with something good before. But this year it had "the plough".
We could see it from half way in the field, lots of gravel and red pottery.

The trash from today

Roman finds. Left top is a lock nail, right top is the spout of a small glass bottle, perfume maybe.
Rare to get 4 Sestercii on a single day on a site i never found a single roman coin before.

At least 1850 years ago... :laughing7: Ok, she was married and had 14 or so kids.... However i love to find coins of her or of her mother.

Nice hunt Lu. Those coins look a bit more toasted than some you've been finding. In the "other stuff", is the top left a Saint Christopher medal? What do you think on the bottom piece, a badge of 20th century? The pin on it looks in pretty good shape. Good luck.

Outstanding hunt, congratulations! :occasion14:

Yeap, 4 in a day is very rare! Congrats. It funny how some of these low priority fields are working out. Watch this space.

Thanks Tim, these don't stand the fertilizer not good. Rare to find one with something on it. No idea on the pendant. One of the many saints... Same for the pin. :dontknow:

Just got back in. Dug some more where the pottery came up. Looks like a pit filled with roof tiles and pottery. Samian also. Will add pics of today later. :occasion14:

This afternoon i went back to the site and located more in the ground with a probe. Some test digs brought up more pottery of the jar, parts of a Samian bowl, jug fragments and other pottery. Now it's time for a dig, i'm currently checking with the Archies.
