Metal Detecting
So this is our 5th trip and think it was our biggest and best. My husband and I metal detected our normal hot spot and he finally got his first silver. Well it’s cut Spanish silver but it’s SILVER! We found 2 fully intact thimbles, some buttons, some partial buckles, some musket balls, and some weird stuff thrown in their too. One of the buttons actually has glass or some kind of stone in it.

If you have any thoughts or ideas on any of this stuff please feel free to comment. We are definitely interested in learning more about our finds as we are very green when it comes to our new hobby. Here are a few pictures. Enjoy and happy hunting!

Congrats on an awesome site. Looks like you have a Spanish cob. Maybe a 2 Reales originally and cut into quarters and you have what would be considered a half Reales basically equivalent to a dime 200 years ago. The buckle frags, thimbles and fancy button are also great finds!

Oh wow :). Thank you. I did find out the piece that was cut into quarter is a Bolivia Royal Cobb dating 1630-1750. I just found this out a few minutes before you replied to my post. Here is the picture I was able to find online. I didn’t realize I had another possible though. Thanks again

Very nice, absolutely !

Excuse, the coin is silver ?

Nice old Silver find. I like the fancy buckle pieces and thimbles too. Thanks for sharing.

Great finds! The domed piece, with two holes, is a piece of horse tack. It's a bridle rosette or harness rosette.

Very nice and congrats!

I'm with you on the bridal rosette.

Great hunt Agsalmon, congrats !!

Looks like you picked up some nice relics.

Yeah I figured that one out after posting. Lol wish I wouldn’t have put it in there now. You can tell I’m green.

Great finds! The cut silver is a truly awesome find. The bridal boss or bit boss could be as old as the 1600's to mid 1700's. I've been told they are hard to date because they remained unchanged in style for a long period of time. I have one of those and I am a fan of those! Nice work!

Thanks so much. We were so excited to find that silver. All the other finds were def bonuses. I just love finding those pieces like that bit and some of the other ornate decorations that go on the old houses, etc.

Great finds! Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic hunt will many relics and the killer cut silver! :occasion14:
