Yard Sale find; seller ($10) said 'from my Dad who collected when he lived in Ohio.'
Do I see an attempt at making this base into a "E-Notched" Big Sandy? Overstreet has 'Big Sandy' as archaic - 10,000 to 3,000B.P. but 'Big Sandy E-Notched' as early archaic 10,000 -7000 B.P.

And what material would you think this might be? I see some blue-ish inclusions. Coshocton/Upper Mercer Chert maybe?Thanks!

Looks lika a Upper Mercer/Coshocton chert Thebes...

I think Jon is correct--a Coshocton flint Thebes.

Probably Coshocton, not sure about the bands in it though. Nethers has more banding but no biggie either way. Not a Thebes, too small, Thebes were knives & notches not right. Big Sandy fits this one better.

Most of my self-found collection is Coshocton (Upper Mercer) flint/chert- which is a county that I hunt ...and that sure looks like some.
E-Notches are done within the side notches, rarely on the base, and I don't see that on this base, just a notched base.
