Hello Everyone!
Today was a very special day for me. I found a silver coin that has eluded me since purchasing my SE some 20 months ago. After recovering over 900 silver coins from the turf with my SE, I finally found a Franklin Half!! Last year, I found seated, Barber, and Walker Halfs, but not Frankie!!
Until today!
Where do you think I went? Of course. The same park that has allowed me to strike a silver coin in 24 consecutive hunts with my SE Pro Coil.
I was really surprised when I uncovered the Franklin in my plug. It sounded like a deep coin, but I was thinking wheatie all the way. Even when I got about an inch away from the coin, my probe wasn't telling me silver.
What a shocker! I decided to end my hunt after only 90 minutes, because: 1.) It was starting to get real hot/humid, and 2.) I had found what I was hunting for.
The day started out awesome too. My first dig was the '53 Rosie, at a spot I just about gave up on because I thought it was completed stripped of the oldies. There were plenty of low conductors in this area, along with shallow clad, but I was ready to say it had been depleted of the wheaties/silver, but I knew better. I'm glad I squeezed another one from this spot.
So the final tally of keepers today after pounding this spot for the past couple of weeks was 1 '45 Merc, 1 '53 Rosie, 1 '61 Franklin Half, and 4 wheaties (40's-50's).
Don't listen to anyone who tells you a site you want to detect has dried up or is not worth hunting. There's always something waiting for you. Trust your abilities, and most of all your machine.
Next time, I will be hunting for the quarter century mark...#25!!
Thanks for looking!
