Further research indicates that this coin was minted into the 1900s... with the 1780 date on it.

Someone with more knowledge than I, needs to chime in on this one.

Yes, most are restrikes from later dates.

Great find, ever noticed the women were kinda homely looking back in the day?
 

I know more about it now then when I dug it , after I found it I sat down on a park bench and gently cleaned it , then I seen the date , now that was a WOW moment
 

Nice find. I have one I purchased, they told me it was late 1800s restrike from original dies. Still old and silver!
 

Not sure how're tell if its original since they used same dies
