It is a mammoth, not mastodon, tooth. That is about all I can tell ya. Hopefully some of your Lone Star people will weigh in.

Very cool Mammoth tooth My daughter and I found one a few years ago, the anthropology professor at the college here gave her $120 dollars and an arrowhead for it. She didn't want the tooth she wanted an arrowhead (and the money). Here is the post with pics,
