though I Can't say I was ever a "Fan" I could listen to his hits when they came on the radio, MTV, VH1 etc.
but I never bought his albums / tapes, or looked or cared to see if he was in the area.

I am curious as to the reason for this

Well, let's just say that when you're a member of Joel's lighting crew and you decide to light the audience, random people get thrown out, and you do not want to be around Joel. acting like a spoiled brat ?
