I found this bottle along a river in Southeast Nebraska that runs adjacent to the Oregon Trail. It's a Bennett and Pieters Red Jacket Bitters bottle. I've done some research on it and have determined that it is from Chicago and was made around 1866. I was able to find one example online that's sold at auction for $350. Can anybody tell me where a good starting point would be if I wanted to sell it? Thanks in advance 20180701_193650.webp20180701_193643.webp20180701_193703.webp

I would put it on eBay. There’s lots of buyers out there on eBay. Others may disagree.

Nice find. Congrats

Geez, everybody is finding these nice bitters. I better get going. Super find Huskerhunter.

Nice find! Is it embossed "Red Jacket Bitters" on the fourth side?

Very cool Bitters. Yep. eBay it. You would get many looks and quite a few bidders. Jgas.

It would bring more if it had "Bitters" embossed, but rare squares still bring good money these days. If there's no damage, it might be worth a good professional cleaning. After that, either ebay or Glass Works Auctions. There's also Heckler and American Glass Gallery, but I believe Glass Works would be a better fit for this particular bottle. Best of luck.

wow thats a big time find congrats

Congrats, that's a super find. :icon_thumright:

That’s a beautiful bottle I’d keep it, but if you’re not into that put it on eBay. Let me know if you do.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but where would one find a "professional bottle cleaner"? I'm in the Omaha Nebraska area and I can't imagine there is a high demand for antique bottle cleaning services around here. Also, what can one expect to pay to have a bottle professionally cleaned? Again, TIA..

See if there’s a local bottle club. Someone there has a machine and would charge between 10-20 dollars probably.

Great find !!! Congrats !!!

Beautiful bottle, congratulations! :occasion14:
