Obsidian does have value, but its quite low. What state did you find it in? I haven't ever found any as I live out east and it's all turned to something else.
 

Obsidian sells quite well as part of the online crystal collector/alternative healing trade, $5-$10 or so for a typical sample, although the market seems to be saturated so it may take some time to find a buyer.

Very cool! Here's a worked piece of obsidian I found in Guatemala.
 

That core from Guatemala is the real deal. Blades were struck off of that core. From the scars that are left behind I’d say that knapper knew what he was doing.

I found in in Kaminal juyu in 1977.
