I was wondering if anyone has seen what type of boxes or caring crates the old ships used to carry black powder around on the ships.

I worked on the wreck of British frigate sunk in 1778 and she carried gunpowder in barrels with copper hoops, don't want any iron near that powder!Barrels?
Exactly and they often they used young boys for this duty, "powder monkeys".No. They carried them in open bucket-like containers.
