Hello I am wondering if black sand has a higher probibility of finding items than the white sand. When i dig into the sand there a visable layers of it. Does this mean that the items get stuck in the sand and don't move/sink as they would in white sand? I live on the east coast of florida and i have herd that black sand is good? Is this true?

To me, it's more important to get down to a coarse sand layer. Fines, usually white but sometimes black, are more easily moved by wind and waves, thus finding something heavy in recently deposited fine sand is more unlikely than in a coarse layer. Coarse layers are usually shell layers. In the high energy surf zone, anything goes...so much stuff is turned over. The dune line is built up by wind blown sand...wind ain't gonna blow a gold coin up there on the surface.
