Hello fairly new to this not sure if this is a common hot rock. Detector picks up but pinpointer will not... :dontknow:

Almost looks like Flint, try striking against some steel

Looks nothing like flint. Looks a lot like hematite. Have you tried streaking it on the back of an unglazed ceramic tile? Hematite will streak red or red-brown, depending on how pure it is.
