Blacksmith made ice creepers

I found these at a lumber camp. How much more simple would it be to make ice creepers. Just heat up a square piece of metal and bend the ends over in a vice. Drill 4 holes and you are done. The interesting question is why didn't the blacksmith finish the holes in the other creeper?

First time I've ever seen this type of relic. Thank you for posting them. Uh, don't know why there are no holes in the one. Maybe the blacksmith was making a prototype - a strap on version rather than a nail-on type?

maybe something happened to stop him and he simply forgot to finish them. we guys do that sometimes ---or he started and saw he need a differant size hole set up or such---so he didn't go any farther. ice cleats or creepers same item --differant name --to cross ice with ---like a frozen lake in the winter. sharp pointy end down to bite into the ice and give traction.

Nana - I didn't know either... so I looked it up for us.

Now I realize we both know what they are... I call them Ice Cleats... not creepers. Attached to your shoes/boots for walking across ice they act like cleats - pointy side down.
