Well I went into the day at 97 silver coins for the year and was hopeful that I would break 100. It turned out to be my best day of the year with 9 total silver: 4 Rosies (1946, 1947 1951, 1952), 4 Mercs (1923, 1943(#100), 1945 and 1945-D) and my first ever Barber Quarter, 1903-O. Incredible details on the Barber as the LIBERTY is fully legible. It came out of the ground black. 8 of the 9 were found at an old school that I have hunted many times before, but this time I tried an area quite distant from the main school with great success.

Totals for the year:

1 War Nickel
2 Barber Halves
2 Walking Liberty Halves
1 Barber Quarter
5 Standing Liberty Quarters
14 Washington Quarters
15 Barber Dimes
19 Roosevelt Dimes
47 Mercury Dimes

Looking forward to taking a bit of a break now that 100 has been hit.

Where do you mainly hunt?

Hunting Areas

Where do you mainly hunt?

Schools and parks/ball fields that have been in existence since the late 1800s to early 1900s. All the silver I have found this year has come from a total of 6 different places; 2 schools, 4 baseball fields/parks.

That's awesome. Do you use cleaners on those, jw since you said the quarter was black. Makes the holiday that much better

Yes since none were key dates I cleaned them with Crest Baking Soda & Peroxide Whitening tooth paste. Works wonders on silver coins.

A nice gang of silvers for ya.Good hunting......................................

I am dyyyying to find a silver coin! What resources do you use to find your search locations? What detector are you using?

I am using a Minelab Safari and absolutely love it. It is easy to use and finds deep silver. I use the net for all of my research. My state has a website where you can search the age of a school by town. Also I live next to a medium size city that has a website with the age of all the public parks listed. I also recommend some of the websites that list old maps like the one below, you can see where schools and parks used to be back in the late 1800s.

Good luck finding your first silver, there is nothing like it. Even though I have found over 100 this year I still get excited when the tone sounds right and you see silver in the hole.
