I never thought a 100 silver coin season would be possible, especially living in New England. The closest I have come was 88 in 2021. I'm happy to report that yesterday at 4:00 pm I dug silver # 100 for 2023, a 1945 mercury dime.

The last 5 coins were slow in coming. I was starting to believe that I would run out of time, or that the season would abruptly end due to a snowstorm. Thankfully, that didn't happen.
#96 - 1946 Rosie (dug 11/20)
# 97- 1942 Merc ( dug 11/27)
#98- 1914-D Barber dime (dug 11/28)
# 99- 1914-D Barber dime (dug 12/1)
#100-1945 Merc ( dug 12/6)

# 100-5.jpg

The 100 silvers include:

1901 Canadian " fish scale" 5 cent piece
1782 Carlos III 2 real
4 Walking Liberty Half Dollars
2 Franklin Half Dollars
1 Barber Quarter
5 Standing Liberty Quarters
12 Washington Quarters
1832 Capped Bust Dime
1891 Seated Liberty Dime
10 Barber Dimes
35 Mercury Dimes
19 Rosies
1847 Seated Liberty Half Dime
6 War Nickles
1853 Trime

Digging all of these coins represents 357 hours of detecting, and about 400 miles of hiking around in the woods. Gott'a say...I'm a little worn out!
Thanks for taking a look!

I think you did really great in this years total. :occasion14:
Lots of detecting time-hiking/walking/fresh air.

Been a longtime since I have broken the 100 silver year-something like 15 yrs ago.
Homestead/cellar holes have a way of not producing a lot of silvers up here.

Those 14D Barber dimes are beauties! :icon_thumleft:

1oo silvers is quite an accomplishment with today's competition. You have had a great year and maybe you can add to that total in the next 3 and 1/2 weeks.

Thanks rayoh! Got out today with a new friend and found a 1945- S war nickel. So the total grows.

Congrats on 100 … wow. Nice variety too, e.g., capped bust, trime, Reale, half dollars, etc.
Thanks lenmac65! As a fellow Mass hunter, I know you understand how fickle our weather/ hunting conditions can be. I'm very tired...glad # 100 came when it did.

It's hard for me to imagine that many silver coins found! I go for years with none and have found less than a dozen in 40 years of detecting. Coppers are much more numerous here further north, but still only a dozen or so a year was the most I have found. !00 silvers, and in one season, amazing!

Absolutely. Good weather days sometimes seem few and far between around here, and normally on a day I am stuck working. I only get to detect a couple hours a week. Still a couple years away from retirement. Oh well. Good luck out there; maybe next year you’ll hit 150 silvers😁.
