I have an opportunity to buy this it’s 33g 10k. There’s another pin that’s dated 1902 with it. Has anyone seen anything like this? Or should I contact the collage? I can’t find anything on it. Given out to John A Mattimore? Thanks

Never seen anything like it but then again I'm not from that area. You may have to contact the college or just give what the melt value is....

You sure wouldn't get a pin like these days for an award with that much gold. That ones pretty darn nice.

I bought several similar items from an estate a few years ago. Not Boston College or debate medals but the same style and era. Although I can't remember the exact details they were from a service fraternity of some kind. Anyway, the ones I had were also supposed to be 10K. Luckily I tested every part that made up each medal before I bought. Some of the pieces were lower karat gold and one was plate. If I was considering this medal I'd test the pin section, chains, BC logo, & various parts of the round piece separately.

I would defiantly contact the college. I couldn’t find that name in their awards section which dates back to early 1900s

Gonna sell it on consignment. I’ll try to contact the school too

Is someone consigning it to you to sell or are you consigning it to another retailer to sell?

It is at a Gold refinery here in town.. And I buy silver from them all the time so he asked me to put it up online for him and if it sells He’ll split it with me minus whatever the price of gold is.

Well ya know he got it at the right price. I've got coin shop pm buyer I visit a lot, to see what kinda jewelry he has. I've bought Georg Jensen, Louis Hill and a number vintage pieces from him.

Certainly an interesting piece. :occasion14:
