so im out and about detecting and i see a bottle with a tree growing around it had to get a pic before i cut it out ,then a couple feet away i get a trash hit but dig out a old oil can and right next to it another bottle that says federal law forbids sale or reuse of this bottle hmmmm wonder what was in it any ideas anyone

Food bottle could've contained anything from relish to a steak or fish sauce! Federal law warning ( against reuse) is pretty common on bottles from the late 30s to 50s , dig in that area prolly lots more to be had!

That warning is generally only found on alcohol bottles , but it appears your bottle has an extremely wide neck for just a fluid , it's possible it may have contained berrys in alcohol !
 
Cool finds you stumbled upon a mid century dump. Keep your eyes open for ACl sodas and I would dig it out just to see if there's older glass in there.

The first bottle looks to be a shoe polish bottle...
 
that oil can will clean up way better with some oxalic acid - try the hardware store (wood bleach...or deck wash.....) - it won't harm the paint but it will take off the surface rust - works great on tins/etc far worse than that - drop me a line if you have any questions
