Bought A 1901 5D Gold liberty

At a estate sale I bought a 1901 5 Dollar Gold Liberty. It is a S mint mark I paid 245 for it did I pay too much? Its in good condition but it has these very light scratches on the neck. I can post a pic later if needed. Just tryin to figure out how I did. Thanks for the help in advance,

By today's price of gold you did quite well at $245 going on the presumption that it is real. Melt value of that coin is $344.71 today.

Weight when minted was 8.359 grams with a diameter of 21.6mm.

that was a good buy, usually numismatic gold in my area comes with a 100% premium over melt.
