So I just finished my 6th box of cents for the year. It was a solid box of CWR. I pulled almost 100 Canadian cents. Also one Panama un centesimo and one Cinco centavos. Anyone ever get that much Canadian eh!?

That's a good Canadian haul. Any George the 5?

Eh, I usually find about 6-8 Canadians in a box eh.

Wasn't George V on the bug cent? And no no Georges at all.

I guess he was on both. Small cent until like 36

I usually see 2-5 as my avg. after ~ 10 boxes.

i usually get 5-10/box but it depends where you live

I usually get a ton eh, almost enough to fill my toque eh. Funny how I don't even get enough US in a box to buy a double double at Tim Hortens eh?

Now the tables have turned! Now Canadians want to get rid of US coins because they're not worth as much...

I was wondering if Canadian crh got excited about American coins

IMG_0003.webpIMG_0002.webpI'll be heading south of the border to get my pennies after Feb 4th. Apparently that's the last day we can get pennies from the banks here before they ship them to be pulled out of circulation. I love finding US coins.

BB,

Where did you cull an ASE from?

I like searching quarter's up here as I don't have access to US halves. You would be surprised how many US quarters I find. At least 100 a box with some silver mixed in once in awhile. I've just been tossing them back in the rolls except for the silver and the US State quarters that are in good shape. Any key dates for US quarters to look for? I don't know much about US coins other than I loved finding a 1 oz monster silver with my detector. I should get a US coin guide because I find tons of US pennies as well.

1964 and earlier are 90% silver, all AU+ 1983-P and 1983-D are worth keeping.

I'd get a back-dated copy of the Red Book (A guide book to US coins by RS. Yeomans). There's really no need to get the 2013 edition, just find a book made within the last 5 years and it will get you mostly accurate on pricing aside from the low value of silver (due to the books being made before silver crossed $30+). You should be able to find a book $5 with shipping fairly easily online. It should be able to tell you the difference between a coin worth $.05, a coin worth $5.00 and a coin worth $500.

I don't know about how the market is up in Canada, but here in the US at many estate auctions I can find Canadian coins that go for only 75% or less of melt. Perhaps you can score some US key dates in auctions up there?
