Then maybe I should ebay this button. Don't know the history either Hoosier, but by the looks of this button they went pretty far back. Its made in very much the same way as 1850's to 1900 military buttons, this one having a tin back. Anybody got the skinny.

:) Nice finds. Interesting saying. I'll see what I can find out. I am also a Hoosier. What part of IN are you from?

In boy scouts you are supposed to do a good deed a day or something. I imagine that the token is placed in the left pocket, and after the scout has done their deed they transfer it to the right pocket. When I was a scout that would have been pretty exciting to me. The secret thing is sorta wierd though, it might be because when you do your good deed it shouldn't be a big deal. Who knows! lol

Neat token you got there. I like the button dave. Your right on the time period. I'd hold onto that one until I got a good reference book.

Your token looks like the current one that can be bought for 2-3 dollars. I have a few and give tham to the new scouts who are having a hard time learning the Oath and Law.

Nicely preserved find. Good luck in your search.

Have to agree with the above statement that it is a newer coin that can be bught through the Boy Scouts catalog. there is a cub scout and tiger scout one as well. Now the button is much older and was most likely a removable button from a uniform from the 40's or earlier.
