If the patent date of 1897 is correct then it's not a boy scout logo,they weren't founded until 1910.It's just a typical fleur de lis design, howevr you can't go wrong for 50 cents.I would think it's worth at least 10-20 times that amount.
 

They applied for the patent in 1897 but if boyscouts started in 1910 then they used a company that was 13 yrs. old to make their products is my guess? Good luck and hope you find out more about it,cause its cool! Tom
 

A dealer would probably ask 5 to 10 dollars for it. Probably was plated silver at one time. Nice collectable.

The patent would appear to be the one granted to Richard J. Ashworth of Waterbury, CT on September 14, 1897. The patent drawings are shown below.

I would agree that the design embossed on the case is simply an ornamental fleur-de-lis, rather than the official Boy Scouts emblem.
