Brass Buckle Age?

Does anyone know how old this buckle could be and what kind of buckle? It's about 3.5 inches long and 2 inches wide. Big buckle. The tongue was still on it, but was made of iron and very rotted.

I'm new and this is my first post. Being doing this for about a year and my friend Chukers introduced me to to this site.

LC, WELCOME to the forum! Since the buckle is that large, it was probably used for some type of horse tack. Nice find, Breezie

Here is a better picture of it I think... this is the one you sent me. (cleaned) I was thinking maybe a gun holster buckle that is about the right size in my opinion... its plain, but its really neat looking.
