I dug this up today. Heavy brass, 2 3/4 inches long
Drilled hole is 1/2 " opening on top, 3/4" opening at bottom.
Has a #3 stamped on one side.
What is it and how old?

I once had a Craftsmen Quick Clamp table and it had inserts similar to that - for holding the thing your working on .

Correction... Old "style" type of font...

Not as in OLD... nor as a "British" style / old English style.

Just as in the older "style".
