I have found several of these at one of my dig sites, Pre-1950's. The shortest one is about 1 1/2 inches long. The square ends have a small notch across the end and each has a alphabet letter stamped into them. There is a thin brass strip, bradded on one end that fit inside the long slot. I have seen these somewhere before, but I just can't remember where. But it seems like maybe the are from a toy piano? 0505171830.webp0505171833.webp0505171835b.webp

SOLVED! Now it comes back to me.... I once worked for a cabinet maker, who had one - A old pump organ, he was given to try to restore. It may still be there. Cabinet maker has died. and his place has been sold but the cabinet shop remains. That's where I have seen these lil old buggers before! The organ was very, very old then. as I remember it was very ornate, lots of carvings and stained very dark. It looked like a horror movie prop!
