How about this thing?

Found at an 1895-1950 farm.

Marked with Wheat, Oats, Flax, and Barley. And graduated for each one.

8 inches long, 1.5 inches wide.

I think it is a gauge for an old seed drill. Depending on where the trip lever was set, determined the size of the drill opening....similar in function to the one shown here.

I was kinda thinking that it had to do with planting depth. But not something i've seen, so I wasn't jumping to conclusions.
