This was deep at a old house, seems like a latch mechanism of some type, must have some age to have such a nice patina.

Dayton Manufacturing made window sash latches for passenger rail cars also - might be from a pullman coach?

I've seen them and used them, but can't remember where. School bus??? I can't remember, but it was a sliding window.
