Brass Object found on beach with markings

Hi Guys

So basically I found this brass object, it is roughly 10'' long, maybe some sort of hinge perhaps. The markings are very clear there is ;

A crown above the letter 'A' followed by the letters 'L93'. Also very faintly there is what possibably looks like a makers mark on the inside of the hinge. 'MF'

Please see the below pictures, any ideas I'l be very happy to hear as i have no idea.

Looks like part of an outboard motor.

Thankyou for your replys guys, I'm going to take to the local boat yard and see what they have to say. If im honest it to me looks more ornamental rather than mechanical though, but I certainly have no idea haha. Any more suggestions would be gratefully appreciated guys thankyou!

Look like it might have something to do with a ships hatch, although I cant figure out what. The stamping on it, looks exactly like the stamps on the port holes that I have. The port hole frame and port hole are both stamped with the same numbers/letters, since they have to match. Just a guess!
