Found this today. Wish it wasn't bent. However if you look closely it seems to have stars on one side. Any clues to what it might be? ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1466995987.911682.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1466996003.838003.webpImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1466996018.311761.webp

The shape of it reminds me greatly of the shapes of many tail sections on small aircraft. Maybe from an old model?

I dunno. No other ideas even faintly coming up.

Other artifacts that I have found date in the mid 1800's.

Tiny airplane part? Possible. I can't offer any other suggestions. An interesting find!

I don't see any stars but you can unbend it with a vise drop it in a small cup of paint thinner and
then use steel wool to see if they are stars or just rust spots.

Def, small punched Stars.

I was thinking some kind of Knife Guard but the hole is kinda small. Cool piece.

Definitely gold Gilt and very old. Other than that stay tuned for someone identify it. I would not try to straighten it if I were you

Oh yeah and very cool I like it a lot

You need to post this in the "what is it" section it will get a lot more traffic and probably get identified . This area does not get a lot of traffic

I posted it here and in "What is it". Still not a definitive answer

I still cannot believe that people did not show more interest in this in the what is it forum. I think this is a really interesting object. Definitely from the early-to-mid 1800

Speaking for myself, I'm at a loss. The piece looks like it could/should be part of the tail section of an old toy airplane....like the ones that used to shoot sparks out the gun port. You'd pull the trigger and that would spin a piece on the inside against a striker. Was a really cool toy, and I truly wish it had lasted more than 5 days with me!! ....I even broke Tonka trucks - usually over someone's head (sister comes to mind). Big, all-metal Tonka trucks. ....Ouch! :laughing7: Anyway, what throws me is this piece appears to be brass, and that would counter the cheap stamped-steel parts of the toy guns. So I'm at a TOTAL loss.

I used to have a raygun that sparked
