Another past find. It's brass or copper and heavy I would say its at least 75 percent solid. The end is hollow and had it soaking for days, cleaned real well I know it's not packed with dirt. It is broken at end. Civil war hand grenade would be supper cool. Lol! year right . image.webpimage.webpimage.webp

I was thinking weather vane also but all the ones I have seen in antique shops ect. are thinner sheet copper. This must weigh a few lbs. not to mention it looks to just be part of something larger. Maybe part of a bronze statue?

Possibly the brass knob off a hames. Your find has a round attachment which is not like the heavier work horse hames with the brass knobs, this type of round brass hames were used on the solid metal hames that were used on lighter harness, like on a buggy or cart.

The ones in this picture have been plated, here are a couple that are brass.

What I have sure looks broken at the ends and don't see any holes or any way for attachment. The brass bed knob idea seems real possible. A friend also mentioned andirons. Well at least we know its not a civil war hand grenade. :tongue3:

Some idea of the size (other than a foreign coin :tongue3: ) might help Foreigners like me. But at first glance, my guess is: a cane topper.
Almost as cool as a grenade
Cheers, Mike
