this was found in elmira ny. it was down by the old railroad tressel. its weight is like 8.89 ounces. it looks to have a 6 stamped on it. any help would be great, and thanks

yeah i have looked in railroad forums, machinists forums and sent pictures to a few antique shops and the Smithsonian. i wish i could just fax it to all universities and so on. lol
