✅ SOLVED Another Unknown but interesting thing

Don't remember where I found this but its pretty cool, looks like a stamp of some kind but the words inside are not reversed facing as would have to be if being stamped of some type..
top appears to have had something else but is gone, - broken off..
Any Ideas ?

Agree. Saw medallion. A number of manufacturers used the eagle device.

Clearly this is very similar, but mine has a much deeper "pocket' or "rim" than the buttons that are shown, I marked as solved because they are so similar, but wondering if mine might have been for a different application ?

Your piece is deeper/thicker.
I’d guess it sat in a relief or pocket designed into the saw handle. I’d guess yours to be older. The thinner, surface-mount pieces probably came along later. They would be less work to assemble and less costly than one like yours. I’m only basing this opinion on observation; I could be wrong.

The ebay listing I linked to in post #3 was just intended to show the motif and inscription commonly used by several manufacturers. It's a later item, although 'vintage'.

The drawing I provided shows the earlier type with a high rim, screw mounted into a recess on saw handles which dates between c.1840s to c.1850s.
