Brass thing

I found this brass thing in the middle of a field. It is made of brass and it's hollow and has two small holes at the base.

To add a bit of clarity, the pair of wooden & metal pieces wrapping around the leather collar are HAMES. The piece found is a decorative brass knob for a hame. Not all hames have the brass knobs. They are usually for your dress harness. Lots of people in my part of the world like to use them now as cane toppers.
