I found this belt slide/slack adjuster in a field that contains items dating to the early 19th century. I was wondering if someone could give me more detailed info on its particular use.
I have searched here and on the web and although I have seen images, etc. I have not found any info about its specific use, ie. military, civilian?

In the same general area, I found a snap clip for a sword scabbard (ID verified here and stumbled on a website that makes replica parts).
I believe the building that once existed in this field burned and I am finding the remnants of somebodies posessions.
This is not a civil war area and all buttons found (about 40) at this location were flat buttons.
Thanks,
Ran

Thanks for the clarafication bigfoot1.
Didn't think it was much but was hopeful. Nice to find it in such great shape after all the years of plowing.
