Not sure what this is. Dug about 6 inches down in an area with a Civil War troop activity, possibly camp. Tube is 3.75 inches long, 0.75 inches wide at opening. Small hole is about 1" below the top rim. Small dimple on the rounded end. Any ideas of what this might be?

You say it is .75-inch wide at the open end, so it is much too narrow to be a flagstaff-buttcap. You'd have trouble fitting one of your smaller fingers inside it. I suspect it is an umbrella/parasol shaft's buttcap. (The hole is for attaching it onto a narrow wooden shaft.)
