The Mrs. and I had a fun day of driving around. There were a couple spots I wanted to detect and get landowners' permission for that I could not accomplish today. However, we did stumble unto what is obviously a party site because of the 40 or so beer cans on surface which we collected for recycling. There was also the telltale ubiquitous used condom lying around. This actually stokes me because that means people have gotten wasted and rowdy and usually lose things besides their clothes (yes lots of that lying around too). I first found some scrap metal probably related to the RR tunnel it was found in. At the creek bank I found coal (RR), a Verizon LG phone battery, a 9mm casing, more beer can on the track above, my wife, looking through surface finds found another piece to the phone, a wire nail, a lead fastener, also RR related. On the trip back is when I caught sight of on old stone foundation. It appears to have once been a barn. On the other side of the road a similar stone foundation previously a house that appears to have burned down or had burned wood into it as well as domestic trash (old couch frame etc.) in it. Though the house was destroyed probably in the last 10-20 years, the mortar and stone appears to be at least a century old. I am psyched about getting permission to md and a nice warm day for my wife and I to check this out. Looks like real pay dirt :weather_sun:

Can't wait to see what you find,

Ya never know. The home site may have had a lot older home either in the same spot that shared the older looking stone foundation before the last home or somewhere else close on that lot. I would also look around for a possible privy? Depends on age of site. Maybe check some courthouse records?

Good luck, get a machine and a shovel for the bride, lol.

Sounds very promising!

Aw, poop. Called the landowner, asked him if I could metal detect the two foundations with my sons. "Metal detect? what's that?" " I want to search for coins around the foundations." "Oh, no, there's no need for that." (pause) "Ok thanks". It's one of those days when I ask myself, other than avoiding being shot at, why do I bother ask permission? He does not even live near the property and I very much doubt that he frequents it or he would not have let it become the dumping ground/party area/wasteland it is. Why ask? Because I want someone to ask before digging on my property.
