Found this Quentin's Breath of Violets Tin lid last weekend hunting with a good buddy of mine.

Dinged it pretty good with the shovel, so I'm polishing it up to repair the damage.

I can't find a single thing about it online. Other than another digger found one on a YouTube video hunt.

Thanks for looking!

Thats a nice piece!

Love this! Can't wait until someone can help you learn more about it.

They were popular in the era of 1911, 1912, etc.
The tins were called breath pellet holders and sold in 5 and 10 cents tins.
Some of the 'pellets' were referred to as 'breath perfume'.
Don.......

That's a nice showy piece. Here's an excerpt from a record book I found on Google Search...

Nice piece! Congrats!

Hey jcobb,

Nice find, sir. They do not sound tasty to me.

They're described as"

"Quentin's Breath of Violets 447 05
Perfumed Wafers 447 25" The Pharmaceutical Era - 1903

In a newspaper database search, I found a drug store in Seattle advertising Quentin's Breath of Violets - "Sweetens the breath" - they sold for 3 cents. The ad is in the Seattle Daily Times, June 1, 1910

very cool lid, but for breath mints I think I'll stick with my wintergreen lifesavers
