I was out on the bad side of town the other day, hunting an old abandoned house. I could see some MD holes that had been dug by a prior hunter. A little clad and the usual trash showed up... then I got a really strange sounding hit in the tall grass. I moved the grass with my foot, and saw something silver on the ground... it looked like a bracelet... but turned out to be this Breitling watch. At first glance, it looks really good and it's heavy. Upon further examination... I am sure that it is a fake...

The real deal retails for several thousand dollars! Missed it by this much...

One of the most faked time pieces out there. The real ones can be worth a fortune. A rich spoiled friend of mine got a $20,000 Breitling for his high school graduation. I would've taken the cash :-)

Not sure about that. My grandmother offered to buy me a Rolex Submariner for my HS graduation in 1985 when they sold for $1,500. I opted for cash instead and you can imagine how long the cash lasted me. I would probably still have the watch today if I'd taken it instead.

I'd bet your rich spoiled friend won't be hurting for cash anyway :tongue3:

Sweet watch, very nice save..

Ha you know you couldn't be more right. When you're rich I guess money is a pretty stupid gift. I was thinking about my poor ass instead of his rich butt :-)

Nice find! Well it was real for a few seconds at lest!

the heart flutters with excitement and then reality kicks in! still a very awesome find, does it still work?

Oh yeah, it works. I did get really excited... I was looking all around to make sure no one saw me pick it up... it's really heavy, so I was not sure whether it was real or fake. Oh well...
GL&HH!

Congrats to you. That`s a beauty fake or not, Some fakes I have seen being sold are so true to original It takes a watch pro to tell.

You've convinced yourself it's a knock-off and as we discussed it very probably is. However, it would take less then 5 minutes to pop into a good jewelry shop and verify what you already think you know. OR, perhaps it is the real deal and you never have it checked out so you never know? I would have to visit Finks South Park and have a pro confirm it one way or the other. As an FYI, the knock-offs sell for about $100 so not too shabby. How did you find that place????

Nice find!!!! Here is one of mine that looks pretty close. It's a mid-90's version and cost about $1500-$2000. Can't remember but yours does look authentic. But what I do know that knockoffs are usually higher end models but you never know.

I'd at least take it to a Pawn Shop and have it checked out ... what have you got to lose? :dontknow:

It's still a nice find and I bet a jeweler could clean it up nicely for you!
