Does anyone know what this is? one side looks like mother of pearl, its about an inch across looks rather like a button. And the other side a small moving arm that has an hole in it. It says brevete SG DG.... H T & S....Someone said to me it was for holding sewing needles while you thread it, but I'm not sure. Could it be to do with clocks maybe? Any ideas would be great

Part of a vintage ladies sweater guard/clip/chain.

The Brevete SGDG is essentially patented without guarantee from the government, whatever the French mean by that.

Some sort of ornamental clasp, nothing to do with clocks.

Well made what ever it is? Could be French or Swiss made is my guess. nhb is right about the term brevete.
