The crown on the button is not a British "Royal" crown, so the button does not represent the Royal Navy. Your button is a British "Merchant Navy" uniform button. The "Merchant Navy" is the British equivalent of the "Merchant Marine" service in the US.

For confirmation, the following excellent British Buttons website shows two examples of your button, which says it dates from 1900 to the present. To see them, scroll a little more than halfway down the webpage to the "Non Royal Navy Buttons" section. Navy buttons

Thank you so much for your assistance....Im not real good at ID'ing Euopean/British buttons. Appreciate the help.
