Hi all,
I am leaving right after work to go to the beach house. It’s me and my wife’s 25yr anniversary. I discovered last night while packing up my EQ 800 that 1/4 of the ear broke off. Does anyone know the diameter dimension of the yoke bolt? I am going to the hardware store on the way home so I can hopefully do a partial repair at the beach house tonight. I will not be able to go home to get the bolt. I was thinking about using a nylon washer and cutting the bottom flat and use something to bind it onto the coil. I cannot find a reference to the diameter dimension of the bolt anywhere in the manual , books or online.
Thank you,
Dan

Thank you. I managed to get a few nylon washers and used loctite “waterproof” to glue two of them together and then glued them to the broken ear. Then I will use a couple zip ties and a plastic suspension clamp to relieve some pressure from the yoke. Hopefully last the weekend at the beach ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1570250332.711380.webp

Looks good, Dan! Hopefully it will do you, until you can get it replaced!

Will Minelab replace it under warranty if you try a repair on it?

I had that happen literally 1 week after buying my 800. It was completely my fault and to save embarrassment I won't go there. I now carry a few zip ties in my hunt bag next to my toothbrush. Zip ties are the duck tape of engineers! I'm glad you resolved it! Oh, and yes, at that point in time, MineLab replaced it.

I was wondering the same thing. Hope we get a follow up report.
