James River lowgrounds find. It appears there is a oblong cigar-shaped engraving. Thoughts? Ain't a brick. Found with a few points and pottery shards.

Is that near Charleston SC? How about posting the pics of the points please. No idea on this piece. Thanks for the share

Sure--these were all found on the same little rise as was the piece in question--I posted the Palmer not too long ago. Nice variety. There are a few more as well. The piece in question isn't much to go off of but I've scratched my head over it for a little while and can't come to any conclusion. This is from Virginia--didn't know there was one in SC...I know there is one in the Dakotas. Thanks for looking

I’m thinking James Island down by Charleston I guess. What can I say, thanks for posting the other pics. Nice !!

Nice. I love crystal clear quartz artifacts! Congrats...

The only thing I can come up with is an abrader if it is man altered.

My thoughts as well if and big if. Unless you find a whole one of same material be hard to say.

It'll stay with the other interesting rocks for now. But yeah TDog an abrader is a good stab--just that oblong shape makes me scratch my head.

It is a shaft abbraider .Always very porous material material . I have found several. Usually have two or three channels like that. Cool.

Thanks for the input Gar--I'm thinking in the same direction. How're your diggings coming?
