Door knocked at this house that had a cellar next to her house in the woods. sweet little old lady answered. At 1st she was apprehensive saying I don't wanna disturb anything down there. then I said i have a display case in my car of stuff I find at cellars, she perked up and started talking about how she loves history, so after some small talk she said "ah go ahead"! not many targets there and she has lived there since 1960 so somebody hit this place by sneaking on there. she told me a few years ago she saw somebody down there digging and ran him off. so at the end of the day i showed her everything and asked if she wanted anything. she was like no you keep it. you sweated for those finds and if you wanna come back when its cooler please do. . a couple buttons one being a War of 1812 Regimental Artillery. a broken shoe buckle frame and chape and 2 iron buckles and a old pocket knife

That is one sweet button. Congrats on the nice find. :icon_thumleft:

hunting in this heat you deserve a nice button for your efforts. the other items are nice as well.

Boy...you did a great job cleaning up that button. What a beauty.

That’s a nice war of 1812 button

I have four copies of this button, all dug at the same place in upstate NY. They are badly corroded, and nowhere near as nice as yours. Congrats!

Heck of a historical button. Good thing you had on hand your salesmans sample to enlighten that sweet lady on what's possible with a man and metal detector digging up a site

Great looking button, certainly worth a little heat for that one.

I would put those finds (the nice ones) in a small frame and gift it to the lady. You'll have a new friend and a place to dig forever. Karma will reward you will more finds. Gary

thanks! she didn't want anything.

I found the exact one but the patina flakes off like paper the minute it hit dry air, which was heartbreaking. Yours looks great - nice work

Very nice! Congrats!
